Born in 1964 he gained his Diploma with honors from the “B.
Marcello” Conservatoire in Venice, Italy where he was taught by Bruno Baldan,
before continuing his studies with Pietro Borgonovo. In 1992 he was awarded
with the Konzertdiplom from the Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel, Switzerland.
From 1994 to 1995 he attended a course of further specialist study with Hans
Elhorst at the Hochschule fur Musik in Freiburg.
From 1990 to 1995 he performed as principal oboe with the
Symphony Orchestra of Sanremo, Italy.
He also has collaborated as principal oboe with several other Italian orchestras,
including the orchestra at the Teatro La Scala in Milan, Teatro Comunale di
Genova, Orchestra Regionale Toscana and the Teatro Regio in Turin.
He has given
several soloist performances (Orchestra Sinfonica of Sanremo, Italy, I Pomeriggi
Musicali of Milan, Italy, Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, L'Aquila, Italy) and
has made recordings for Ares, Frequenz, Erato, Nuova Era, Ricordi, Tactus,
Rivoalto.
In 2001 he was invited as a member of the jury (first Italian) to the
International Competition Gilett/Fox in the USA. In the same occasion he
presented
“Parigi o cara”
during the International Conference Double Reed Society. During 2002 he
participated at the 1° Festival de Musica y Musicologia in Ensenada (Mexico)
obtaining a great success.
He performed,
as an Italian premiere, the
“Trittico”
for Oboe, Oboe d’amore, English horn and strings by Antal Dorati with the
Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese. He presented the "Trittico" at the International
Conference Double Reed Society at Banff (Canada), as well. In 2003 he presented,
as a world premiere, at the International Conference Double Reed at Greensboro
(USA) his new CD
“Ardon gli incensi”
which contains fantasies by Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti operas. His performance
of the A. Dorati's Trittico in the US has been the subject of a thesis at the
Indiana University (USA).
As member of the
Avant-Garde Quintet
until may 2006, he was one of the finalists in the 46th International ARD
Competition in Munich, Germany.
Currently, he is Principal Oboe at the
Rome Opera
Theater Orchestra, in Italy.
